The police are assessing the motive of the attack. The name of the shooter has not been released yet by the FBI.

Soon after the shooting took place, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attack, and said that violence has no place in politics and democracies. He wrote on X, “Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Trump, sharing details about the attack in Butler, Pennsylvania, on his Truth Social platform, said, “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear.” “Much bleeding took place,” he added. According to a statement by the Secret Service, the shooter was dead, one rally attendee was killed and two other spectators were injured. The incident is being investigated as an assassination attempt, a source told news agency Reuters.
